What is the public invoicing portal (PPF)?
The PPF is the DGFiP's portal that acts as a business directory and a hub for the tax data sent in by approved platforms. It is not a platform for exchanging invoices.
In practice, in France
The PPF performs two functions, and neither of them is routing your invoices. It holds the directory that shows which platform reaches a given supplier or customer, and it centralises the transaction data that approved platforms send it.
The most persistent misconception about the whole reform is that it offers a free way out for businesses that do not want to use an operator. The tax authorities are explicit on this point: taxable businesses must use an approved platform to send and receive their invoices. The public portal does not exempt anyone from that.
In Odoo
There is nothing to configure on the PPF side: it is the approved platform that talks to it, and since Odoo is itself registered as one, the exchange happens without intervention.
What does concern you is the directory: your business identifiers need to be correct there so your partners can reach you. Approximate partner data in Odoo translates into invoices that never arrive.
Common mistakes
- Treating it as a free alternative to an approved platform.
- Confusing it with Chorus Pro, which handles invoices addressed to the public sector and continues to exist alongside it.
- Neglecting the accuracy of your own registration data, when that is exactly what makes you reachable through the directory.
